How To Stay Healthy During The Holidays

First and foremost, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all of our patients and loyal blog followers!

The holiday season can certainly be a very busy and stressful time of year for most people. There is physical stress from spending time shopping, standing in long lines or decorating the home; emotional stress from thinking about what items to cross off from your gift list, worrying about saving/spending appropriately during financially difficult times or feeling the loss of family members and loved ones at holiday functions; chemical stress from overeating at holiday parties, consuming larger than normal amounts of alcohol or eating a lot of sweets, fatty or unhealthy foods. All of these sources of stress can lead to an increase in spinal misalignments during the holidays and weaken our immune systems, making us more vulnerable to illness. One of THE BEST ways to combat these stresses is to receive regular chiropractic adjustments and wellness care!

Élan Vital Healthcare/Fort Lauderdale Spine & Injury Center can provide just what you need to stay healthy and enjoy a happy, stress-free holiday season! Chiropractic care works to correct spinal misalignments and take away any pain that may have resulted from physical stresses, as well as enable your immune system to function at a more optimal level. Massage Therapy also helps to reduce stress, ease muscle tension and create a general feeling of peace and well-being. Speaking of massage -- a gift certificate for a relaxing, therapeutic massage therapy session would make a perfect gift for an over-stressed co-worker or loved one! These certificates can be purchased at our office at any time of the year.

In addition to chiropractic and massage, make sure to eat a well balanced diet during the holidays to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and assist in flushing out nasty toxins. Keep your energy up by resting often during shopping excursions and make sure to eat moderately at all holiday gatherings. Also, try to find time to continue your regular exercise routine during this busy time of year. It may be impossible to avoid stress altogether, but your season will be much more festive if you take the proper steps to stay healthy during the holidays!

REMINDER: Don't let your 2009 chiropractic insurance benefits go to waste! Your benefits will expire at the end of the year and deductibles reset in January. Many insurance plans are changing and you may have better coverage now than in 2010. Not sure what chiropractic benefits you have left? Call our office and we'll be happy to find out for you! 954-568-BACK (2225)
